The issue was "did I want the bezel to align when it first clicks into the new position", or "when I turned it backwards until the ratchet locked it"? I elected the latter, so I removed the bezel (myself) and repositioned the bezel insert until it aligned perfectly the way I .
Rolex has become HORRIBLE with the quality control on this issue, it's not in your head. In fact there is a certain trusted seller that I'm sure thinks I'm a broken record whenever were talking about a Rolex with a bezel because the first thing I want to know if the bezel lines up correctly. It's not just the steel models either. My 16610 has some back play in the bezel action, so i have found the proper alignment only happens when I turn it back after the click..I wouldn’t call it misaligned, it just requires adjusting. If it bothers you, send it back.I recommend calling .

To use the Submariner’s bezel, simply rotate the bezel to align the inverted triangle with the minute hand just before a dive (or any other event you want to time). Then, as time elapses, look at where the minute hand is pointing to on the bezel (which is graduated to 60 minutes) and that’ll tell you how many minutes have passed.
